Terms and conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions govern the provision of personal chef services by James Mitchell Private Dining, operated by James Mitchell Private Dining Ltd ("we", "us", "our").

By booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2. Services

We provide private chef and catering services including, but not limited to:

  • Private dining experiences

  • Dinner parties

  • Special occasions and celebrations

  • Corporate dining

  • Meal preparation services

  • Bespoke culinary events

All services are subject to availability and confirmation.

3. Booking Process

A booking is only confirmed when:

  1. A quotation has been accepted.

  2. Any required deposit has been paid.

  3. Written confirmation has been issued.

We reserve the right to refuse a booking at our discretion.

4. Pricing & Payment

All prices are quoted in GBP (£).

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to secure a booking.

  • The remaining balance must be paid no later than 7 days before the event date.

  • Bookings made within 7 days of the event may require full payment at the time of booking.

Failure to pay by the due date may result in cancellation of the booking.

5. Cancellations by the Client

Cancellation charges apply as follows:

Notice Period                                        Refund

More than 30 days before event          Refund of payments made, less deposit

15-30 days before event                      50% of total booking value payable

14 days or less before event               100% of total booking value payable

Any refunds due will be processed within a reasonable period.

6. Changes to Bookings

Any request to change:

  • Guest numbers

  • Menu selections

  • Event timings

  • Event location

must be made as soon as possible.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes but cannot guarantee availability or pricing.

Additional charges may apply.

7. Dietary Requirements and Allergies

Clients must notify us of all allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements and medical dietary restrictions before the event.

While we take reasonable precautions, food is prepared in environments where allergens may be present.

We cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens and accept no liability for reactions where information has not been disclosed prior to the event.

8. Client Responsibilities

The client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate booking information.

  • Ensure reasonable access to the kitchen and event location.

  • Provide access to utilities including water and electricity.

  • Ensure the event environment is safe and suitable for food preparation.

We reserve the right to refuse service where working conditions are unsafe.

9. Equipment and Property

Unless otherwise agreed, we may use equipment belonging to the client.

Any breakages or damage caused through negligence by guests or the client may be chargeable.

We accept no responsibility for existing faults or defects within the client's kitchen facilities or equipment.

10. Alcohol

Where alcohol is supplied by the client, responsibility for its purchase, storage and consumption remains with the client.

We reserve the right to refuse service where guests are intoxicated or where service may present a risk to safety.

11. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather

  • Natural disasters

  • Transport disruption

  • Industrial disputes

  • Government restrictions

  • Illness or emergencies

Where possible, alternative arrangements will be discussed.

12. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to the above:

  • Our total liability shall be limited to the total value of the booking.

  • We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses.

13. Photography & Marketing

From time to time, we may photograph food, table settings or event details for marketing purposes.

We will not publish identifiable photographs of guests without permission.

If you do not wish any photography to take place, please notify us in writing before the event.

14. Data Protection

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.

Information provided for bookings will only be used for legitimate business purposes.

15. Complaints

Any complaints should be submitted in writing within 7 days of the event.

We will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

16. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
